Styling

We create botanically inspired events and beautifully designed spaces.

Styling sets the scene and gorgeous florals play an important role in this. With your aesthetic in mind we will work with you to expand on your ideas and create an atmosphere that will leave your guests wowed.

If your dream is a little unclear we will give you direction and turn those jumbled thoughts into a cohesive design. For those with a clear vision we offer peace of mind knowing your needs and wants will be executed to the highest level and co ordinating with your other suppliers while connecting you with other talented professionals.

Hi, I’m Toni and we are based in the beautiful Hawkes Bay of New Zealand.

I’m a self-confessed perfectionist, keen DIY-er, wedding addict and most importantly a trained florist. Magdalen Hill is a result of my insatiable desire to create, make things look beautiful, my travels and very own love story. Let me explain…..

Growing up in a creative family I was encouraged to explore the treasures in the world around me, an inspiration that still flows freely into my work to this day. After studying floristry, I quickly became a wedding florist then headed to London. There I continued to work as a florist. The jobs were amazing and often for the rich and famous; it was all very rock ’n roll. On a trip home I fell in love with Mr Hill, a wonderful man who does all he can to make my dreams come true. Very quickly my wandering feet were firmly settled, and Napier was home again. Our wee man Cooper soon followed and more recently little Parker.

Becoming a mum, my desire to create was still ever present, so adding to my already crazy life Magdalen Hill was born. These days you will often find me out foraging, collecting bits and pieces for my latest creation with my boys in tow. Sharing my love of nature and its beauty with them is something I treasure.

Working with a select number of couples each season allows me the dedicated time to create the bespoke florals and beautifully designed spaces that Magdalen Hill is known for. I get stupidly excited by all the little details; have high expectations which I apply to all I do and my enthusiasm for your vision will be infectious. All of this adds up to me being able to capture the essence of you and your story in what I do.

So, while I am one of the lucky ones living the dream I also look forward to creating yours.

My flowers were one of my favourite parts of my wedding. They were absolutely gorgeous – far more beautiful than I ever imagined. Toni did an incredible job and made them exactly how I wanted. I was so impressed at how she made the colours, flower types and size of all the floral completely match my “boho country rose garden” wedding theme. Toni was so lovely, genuine, relaxed, and professional to work with, and it was perfect for me to share my ideas with her via Pinterest. I particularly loved my bridal bouquet and the amazing floral necklaces Toni made for my bridesmaids – they matched their dresses perfectly. Magdalen Hill was the most efficient, professional, reliable and talented team I dealt with throughout my whole wedding planning process. Early on we clicked about how flowers make any wedding come to life and I felt like a weight came off my shoulders by securing this fabulous floral team for my big day. My vision of 'Italian countryside, rustic but not too shabby-chic and a touch of glamour' may have seemed complicated to anyone else but Toni made it come to life with more love and attention to detail than I could have imagined. Toni did an outstanding job with the flowers for our wedding and also assisted on the day with styling the marquee. Toni listened to all our ideas and helped us achieve the overall look we wanted, we couldn’t have been more happier with how it all came together! I had found Toni after admiring a lot of her work online. Toni instantly understood my aesthetic and style, something that is very individual. She brought in elements for Nick, that I hadn't even thought of, her vision, style and imagination is incredible, so much so that I didn't even worry about what she was going to create as I completely trusted she understood my style and what I wanted to achieve. Our wedding styling was incredible, much much better that I could have imagined and completely unique and individual, from the incredible teapot bridesmaids bouquets, to the floral lampshades above the bar, to incorporating bits and pieces of our own things into the table decorations, the card box and the bullet casings bullet holes for the boys. Toni created for us something out of a magazine, better than we could have ever imagined and so incredibly special. Toni had been by my side from day one, planning and creating the style for our beautiful day. She spent numerous hours discussing and creating our vision for the day. No idea was ever too big or able to be achieved. Toni was full to the brim with wonderful ideas and made sure everything was personalised. She began to know me very well quickly which I loved, we had such an open honest relationship and I trusted her with every single decision. You could say Toni was the hand brake of the relationship and at times put everything into perspective and kept me on track. I wondered at times if Toni slept. She never missed a thing, and was extremely organised. Nothing was out of place the whole day, right down to the finishing touches. While peonies and pretty vintage crystal featured heavily throughout my wedding it was the Cigar & Whiskey bar for the boys that stole the show. I don't know if words can even really describe the talent Toni has when it comes to flowers. Her knowledge and love for them is so magical.I will forever be so grateful and blessed to have worked with one of the most talented ladies I know, Toni has talents that will continue to shine and amaze anyone that gets the opportunity to work with her. I am in awe.....words cannot describe the beauty I walked into on my wedding day. I was absolutely stunned she's a genius the best in Hawkes bay if not New Zealand! Toni's relaxed yet methodical approach to her work was present from our first phone call. She immediately understood the ideas we had and helped us narrow these into a theme that would work across our wedding, and all within our budget. Her advice was never solely about flowers but about how to link ideas, colours and motifs together. She was flexible and innovative to work with and the end result was so much better than we could have envisaged. The girls adored their posies, I had endless comments on the colours and structure of my bouquet and our table flowers really completed our venue.
